Web & Media Developer
The Technical Support Specialist supports multimedia and web productions for faculty, and staff. This may include, but is not limited to: web, audio podcasting, e-communications, e-marketing development, and video production. Evaluates and supports academic, web-based technology tools including social networking, video creation, multimedia graphics tools, visualization software, lab simulation tools and specialized databases. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least two years of relevant technical experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities:
*Demonstrated knowledge of general computer applications (Microsoft Office, e-mail, etc.)
*Working knowledge of Apple MAC and Apple products.
*Familiarity and desire to keep up with emerging hardware, software, applications, resources and techniques.
*Experience with Web authoring tools, Web-based collaboration environments (i.e. WebEx), and presentation software.
*Experience with web editing and video/audio production tools and software, like Adobe Photoshop, Flash, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Premier Pro, Soundbooth, After Effects, Acrobat Pro, , CaptivateConnect.
*Demonstrated customer service skills along with the ability to interact with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff with differing technical abilities.
*Excellent written and verbal communication as well as organizational skills.
*Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment.
*Experience with social networking tools (Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, LinkedIn) and open source initiatives.
*Web development using server-side scripting in XHTML, CSS, PHP and MySQL.
Preferred:
*Experience with the latest course management software, including open source.

New Search Engine by Microsoft: Bing
Microsoft launched a new search engine Bing.com. It is a revamped version of Live.com search engine, which has not been successful in the past few years. But I do like Bing’s features and new preview tools it offers on the search results page. It offers a clean design and many customization options to the user.
