Daylight Savings Time Change

Filed under: Blog, News — Sharaf @ 1:06 pm

alarm clockAs you might be aware the starting and ending definitions of U.S. Daylight Savings Time (DST) has been changed. According to the new U.S. policy the DST will start from second Sunday of March until first Sunday in November.

For this year, it will start on Sunday, March 11th and end on Sunday, November 4th.

What’s the big deal?

Many of the operating systems and devices that used to adjust to the old method for the DST will experience problems. While a mobile phone and a watch can be set manually, those that adjust time automatically will come across a few hitches. If you are late to your appointment on March 12th, don’t be suprised, because the new DST can throw calendars and schedules off by an hour or so. To that end, you need to update your OS and devices with patches that use the new definition of DST start/end times.

Usual Suspects

Microsoft Outlook

If you use any version of Outlook other than Outlook 2007 you need to update your software. You can download the patch through Microsoft’s web site.

Windows XP, 2000, ME, 98, 95

Yes, you will be affected as well. So, you better get your dose of Windows Update. If you also run Windows servers, you will definitely want to get the patches.

Apple MAC OS

Your Apple will need an update as well. Get full details at Apple.com.

PocketPC, Windows Mobile

Any of the mobile editions of Windows OS and devices will need an update to adjust for the new DST.

Filed under: Blog, Marketing, Random Stuff — Sharaf @ 10:15 am

Superbowl 2007Since most of us in the U.S. will be watching the Super Bowl game this Sunday, we pay as much attention to the ads throughout the game as to the game itself. Why? Because, when companies spend $2.6 million for a 30-second ad marketing their product or service, it has to be good….

Speaking of Super Bowl Ads….NY Times has an interactive presentation of all previous Superbowl ads that you can watch with some interesting facts about the ads. YouTube also setup a site for this year’s Super bowl ads.
